Also with the invaluable collaboration of Kathleen Vernaillen, a special thanks to the Yellow Pages Group for their generous contribution in gifts.

Also a very special thank you to all our volunteers who did participate to the success of this lunch. Our volunteers are:

TRANSITION       (NEW)

THANK YOU

In 2004, I created this Web site to allow all retirees and friends of Yellow Pages pensioners, to find each other, to be informed about everything related to social activities, news items affecting us, to entertain you and finally to know more about the status of our pension fund.

A very special THANK YOU to all who helped me by generously giving their time to maintain this site.

It is with a twinge of sorrow that I terminate the publication of this site, but while remaining on the very dynamic board of YPPG, I will also be able to allocate more time within the Canadian Federation of Retirees who takes a new direction to improve the pension protection of all those receiving a defined benefit pension.

Looking to the future, I would like to thank Mark Guilbeault, who did create and will update the new Yellow Pages Pensioners website. With his talent that I recognize, congratulations for the professional work you have done on this new site:

Regards
Jean-Paul Joanisse

AMAZING TECHNOLOGY....       (NEW)   bY Maurice Descoteaux

A daughter is visiting her father and is helping in the kitchen.

She asks: "Tell me dad, how are you managing with the new I-Pad we gave you for your birthday?"

This clip is spoken in German, but it is totally understandable in any language.

SHOPPING ON THE WEB (Source: Consumer magazine Protegez-vous)

Before the advent of Web and e-commerce development, the bargain hunter should move from one shop to another, with all the irritants that includes: fuel costs becoming more expensive, finding parking, cold weather or rain, to elbow with hordes of consumers, etc.. Today, nothing more simple: we open our web browser, visit few sites, you complete the transaction with your credit card and bingo the purchase is completed!

A study by the magazine Protegez-Vous (March 2011), they compared 11 shopping engines on the Web (price comparison). The best Canadian price comparison sites are (in order of priority):

http://www.bing.com/shopping  (Bilingual)

http://www.wishabi.ca/  (English only)

http://www.postescanada.ca/magasineur/  (Bilingual)

Price comparators: 5 tips for shopping

1

To increase your chances of finding the best price, use at least three comparators.

2

Since prices vary from day to day and week to week, visit these sites a few times and be patient! Historic prices should help you determine if it is a good time to buy.

3

Warning: prices that you find by shopping on the Web always accurate. Click on the links to see if they are the same on the websites of retailers.

4

If they are not displayed by the comparators, do not forget to include shipping costs and customs duties. Many merchants allow you to obtain this information by entering your zip code. In some cases, you must complete before the command to know the shipping costs.

5

Before making a transaction, check whether the site is secure. The address should begin with <<https>> and a padlock should appear on the navigation bar.

  4. Links for information related to passport.
  5. Travel insurance (what you need to know), etc
  6. Independant cruise survey

PENSIONER'S BENEFITS.

For your information, as a pensioner, you are entitle to some benefits. This may be different from one pensioner to another pensioner.

When I did retire, I was inform that I had a maximum total amount for the reimbursement of my medication and health services. I recently learned that by calling directly Manuvie at 1 800 268-6195, they will give you your up to date cumulative amount that they have paid for your benefits.

If you did lost or you can not find your benefits brochure that you got when you retired, you can get a copy by calling YPG (Benefits at retirement) at 1 800 417-2114 and they will send it to you by mail.
